Reflections 1: Favorites

Favorites for me are really hard to say--there is a certain fluidity to things that I like and dislike, as there is with most people, but I will try and answer these now (since they are posed first):

Favorite Flower: Carnations, Irises

Favorite Perfume: Faith Hill

Favorite Color: Gold

Favorite Song: "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls

Favorite Book: "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott and "The Baby Name Wizard" by Laura Wattenberg

Favorite Author: Jude Deveraux, Laura Wattenberg, Jodi Picolt, JK Rowling

Favorite Bible Verse: "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it"--Psalms 118: 24

Dessert: Ferrero Raffaello's and Buttermilk Pie

Vacation Spot: Littleton, Colorado

Type of Food: Mexican and BBQ

Sport: To watch, Basketball; to Play, Soccer. But Mommy is terrible. She really, truly is...just awful.

Leisure Activity: Reading, Onomastics

Refections from a Mother's Heart

I have these books...
One is "Memories of a Mother's Heart: A Keepsake Journal to Treasure";
the other is "Reflections from a Mother's Heart: A Family Legacy for Your Own Children. Your Life Story in Your Own Words".

The purpose of both of these books is fairly obvious: to provide a picture of who one's mother was and is, so that they may better know them.

For all I know, my children will find these complete garbage. They may hate me and want nothing to do with me and will therefore chuck the books in the bin without once cracking it open. But I like the idea of someone wanting to remember me. For all I know, my husband would be interested in this, or my friends, or my siblings, parents...someone may one day be interested in the little details of my life. So, in an act of ego alone, I begin these books.

As it is, I cannot tolerate my handwriting. I am working on it--my Granny always told me how much she practiced so her handwriting was so nice--but journals frustrate me because I look at them and think less of myself for how illegible it is, the misspellings or antiquated information. In blog form, I am able to go back and add to or correct the entries without having to locate the pen that I had used to write the original entry (it looks terrible when you switch them).

So, the subsequent posts--for as long as this endeavor can hold my attention--will be answering the questions posed by these books. Hopefully I won't divulge an excess of personal information so that some creeper can look at these and use it against me. Surely no one reads these that does not know me, but you can never be too careful.
